  • Winners of BUSA 2016

    Cambridge Blue qualified directly for the Finals from the Midlands Qualifier having finished 1st. Other team successes during 2016-17 include: 1st at the Top Gun Invitational Trophy and 2nd at the Cam Cup.

    The team is composed almost entirely of engineers: Tim Gratton (4th year), Hugo Sloper- Manufacturing Engineering (4th year), George Hopes (3rd year), Catriona Wallace and Jamie Webb (2nd years). The captain, James Pinder, is a 4th year chemist. All three helms are due to graduate this year, all three crews will be returning to Cambridge next year.

    Helm Tim Gratton is aiming for a record 4th win in the BUSA finals, with a perfect streak so far.

    Training happens every weekend during term at Grafham, alongside the other Cambridge teams.

    When asked for his greatest achievement, captain James Pinder claimed it was coming 5th in the Warsash Optimist Open in 2006, a feat he has yet to top.
