  • Cambridge Purple qualified directly for the Finals from the Midland Qualifier having finished 5th.

    Cambridge Purple is a relatively new team this year - with this being the first BUSA finals for all but the team captain, Greg Sale, helming for Bethan Matthew. The very first event of the year for us was the Brummie Bender - with the help of the newly recruited light wind manticore that is Alex Smallwood we somehow found ourselves in the finals - a promising start! However, the team soon had some changes, with OJ leaving us to cover for illness elsewhere in the Cambridge teams. Nevertheless, a lugubrious team was cheered by the arrival of John Clay as Alex's new crew. With our new-found salvation, Purple smashed out a 5th at the Midlands qualifiers in a relatively challenging field. The final notable event of season so far was UKTRA, down some malingering team members. We made some extreme learning gains despite the snow - Freddie Scott powering through the loss of his normal helm, Holly MacAskill, using his every trusty maltloaves. Roll on BUSA finals!!
